It’s Working!! time Yamada! – Alter’s Yamada Aoi

Man, I was gonna come up with a pun for the title but it was too much work.

Today we are taking a look at Alter’s rendition of Yamda Aoi from the nice show that is Working!!.

I must say that Alter totally hit the jackpot with this one. Just from a glance I feel that Alter was able to capture the essence of the character quite well.

Just from a look you can easily tell Yamada is quite clumsy with the way she carries the menus and how everything is flying off the tray. You can see how she is oblivious to all of this with her happy expression.

She usually means well but tends to fail spectacularly in trying to do so.

I really like Yamada, her clumsiness, happy go lucky oblivious personality, and quirkiness makes her my favorite girl from Working!!

One thing I really like about Alter is how they tend to do less popular or more obscure characters instead of only going for whatever is popular at the time.

Alter being Alter did their thing and put really nice details even it Yamda is a simple figure. Detail such as the falling items on the tray.

As well as with the menus, that contain quite legible writing and nice looking pictures of some of the menu items.

Yamada’s apron also contains a nice amount of details in the frills, the creases over her breasts and her training badge.

Which extends to the back with the nice bow and creases at the waist.

Yamada’s stockings have the usual shine giving us a good look at your exemplary zettai ryouki.

Alter included an alternate look for Yamada with her hair clipped up. One thing I found interesting is that instead of an alternate head or so Alter merely included an alternate hair piece with the pony tail. You can swap them in a manner similar to how it is done with figmas.

While I can’t remember ever seeing Yamada do her hair like that it sure raises her charm by 36%. Also, delicious nape if you are into that sort of thing.

The base is pretty simple, typical circular base with Yamada’s name and the show title.

My wholly unbiased opinions says that Alter did a really good job on this figure and every one should go buy it.

How can you not if you like the show.

Plus Alter is so totally gonna make a set if you ask me. They released Yamada and announced a Poplar as well, I bet they do the other girls too.

Hmm… makes me wonder if I will end up getting them all. I really like the Working!! girls they are a fun.

Oh I wonder if there will also be a Kotori-chan one.

I almost forgot to mention but I think Alter did a nice job with the face. Looks exactly as in the show.

If haven’t noticed I really like this figure. Quite happy Alter released a figure from Working!! and of my favorite girl no less.

It’s been a while since I mentioned it so:

Flickr gallery with way more pics as always.

Also, you should totally subscribe to the rss feed and follow on twitter. It’s been a long time since I seen anything new on those ends.

Alright then till next time.

  1. I actually dislike Working!!, but it’s not Yamada’s fault, at all.
If only thisTakanashi would get hit by a truck, I can’t stand his mere existence XD
Haha, that shouldn’t be the topic here, this Yamada figure looks really nice.

It’s a cool waitress figure and the tablet looks really cool, it captues the moment
before everything is falling down ^o^ Also the tied up hair suits her very well.
Personally, I think her outfit has a quite conservative design, not very fancy to be honest.
On the other hand her pose is very lively and I like how she is holding the tablet and the menue cards.

It’s good that ALTER keeps on making figures from less popular origins from time to time.
Im looking forward to receive their Kaminagi Ryoko figure in January 2011

    • I watch Working!! but it’s not for him, it’s for the girls and the comedy.

Yes, that’s what really sold me on this figure as it portrays Yamada’s character really nicely there. I think making the pose so dynamic makes the figure stand out. As you mentioned her design is pretty simple and doesn’t stand out too much so going for that was a good choice from Alter.

Yup, one of the many things that make Alter my favorite is their attention to lesser known characters.

    • She is my fave too, so awesome of Alter to start off their Working!! figures with her. Inami is not too bad, I do find her androphobia getting a bit stale though.

  2. I tried out the series. The characters were funny, but my problem was the protagonist, I just didn’t click with him hahaha.

That base made me happy! Yeah i know its a small thing, but hey its better than that regular boring empty base right? Hmmm that glass of water was a great touch as well to add some dynamism to the figure XD

    • I like the show over all, the interactions and the character themselves are funny, I enjoy it quite a bit.

The base is a nice touch, not every figure needs a diorama for a base, something simple like this is fine with me. I totally missed the water when I first pre-ordered the figure, I thought it was only the toppling glasses, the water does indeed add some nice dynamism to an already dynamic figure.

  3. An unexpected character :D Yamada looks great, typical professional Alter job here for sure. I love the alternate hairstyle, and I also don’t recall seeing it in the series. I think it’d be great if they complete the line-up. I personally don’t feel the need to run out and get any figures from Working, but I still love the show and I’m glad it’s not just Popura getting figures ^^

    • Well, at the very least they are doing Poplar so I’m thinking they might just go and do all the girls.

I don’t think I would get all the girls though, probably just stick with Yamada even if they release all of them.

  4. The lettering on the menus is impressive. I think the ponytail increases her charm by more than 36%, but I like ponytails so I’m biased :P

    • Indeed it is, I didn’t expect to actually contain legible write though. I like ponytails too, so conflicted in how to display Yamada, do I go for iconic look or for the ponytail… decisions, decisions.

    • Go finish watching it’s one of the most amusing shows I watched in a long time. Yamada is cool, I wanna see more of her on the show.

      …and… yeah… new design…

  5. Yamada Yamada~

Man, I can’t get enough of that pose — it captures her character so perfectly! Oh Yamada, you are the cutest walking disaster to ever ravage a family restaurant.

    • Yes, that pose is so much win. Made me buy the figure single handedly without a second thought.

      Thanks for stopping by Chag.
