Dammit Hollywood! Stop getting in the way of my blog!

Among other things including friends, movies, dust storms, and people calling me late at night.

It’s been a while since I done one of these vaguely related pictures of figmas posts. Last one was back in March when I took out Azunyan.

One of our friends wanted to try out our cameras so we hung out at this place for a while snapping pictures away. In the end using Nikon DSLR’s convinced him enough to dump his Canon camera and go for the Nikon D800.

Good choice, everyone knows Nikon DSLR’s are better right? :P

Since taking pictures stimulates the stomach we went to eat out before heading to our main event for the evening.

I sure miss carrying figmas every where and taking pictures, ah the good ol’ college days.

We went to watch Prometheus the much anticipated Alien “prequel” from Ridley Scott.

As a fan of the Alien franchise I was satisfied, it gave a few nods here and there to Alien which was all I really wanted from it. While me and my friend liked it for exilehero it was a snorefest apparently.

Did anyone watch it? How did you like it?

I was actually planning to do a photo shoot of Alter’s loli Nanoha in her school uniform for last week’s post. Since I am just not happy with the photos I took before, it’s been really nagging me for months now.

Alas my plans to do so where crashed by sudden dust storm out of no where that prevented me to do the shots that I wanted outside.

To make matters worse, I was constantly kept up late at night by people calling my cell phone number thanks to some idiot who either gave the wrong number to people or lied to them and gave them mine by chance.

A sleep deprived, grumpy Miette does not lead to anything remotely considered decent pictures. All I ended up doing was messing around with using my diffuser box as a back lit background.

Going of from my fooling around I tried to do a photo shoot involving the back lit background but I ended badly messing the exposure. So I ended with a bunch of crappy under exposed pictures that I decided to give up on for a post.

Fast forward to this weekend and this time it included a failed try at doing a photo shoot for Alter’s lovely and sexy recent swim suit Nanoha.

Alas, my idea for the set didn’t quite work out and had to scrap the shoot since I ran out of sun and no longer had the lighting I had in mind.

Which leads to this Saturday where I spent all day giving a thorough cleaning to a good chunk of my figmas and reposing them. I been very lazy about cleaning my figmas, since I have so many of them now it makes it seem like such a chore and end up procrastinating.

Although I must say I find it strangely relaxing to clean my figures.

That was followed by hanging out with my friends again, going out for some dinner and then watching Men in Black 3. The end result was these pictures of Mirai.

There you have it, a lazy post with lazy pictures. I should really stop using my Lumix LX5 on auto and actually take proper pictures when I go out now that I look at these pictures.

I’m wondering now, do you people even care for posts like this?

Well, whatever, next week exilehero will have a nice proper post for you lovely readers.

  1. Well, I read these kinds of posts, it gives of a “intimate” kind of feel among us bloggers. Yes, Nikon is the better choice indeed XD

  2. Canon bashing is good, but it doesn’t really matter which companies DSLR you choose, the lenses are important :p

Prometheus, eh? I don’t watch horror movies in the cinema because loud sound = more scary XD

All the nice food, what was that slimy stuff next to Mirai Figma? I hope you can find the time for Alter’s loli Nanoha

Tomorrow Misaka will start her travel

    • Indeed, now if I only I was willing to drop down the cash for more lenses…

It’s not so much horror, nothing that really makes you jump in fright.

It is the left over bits of a crepe and whipped cream. One of my biggest pet peeves with American food is that it is not pretty.

  3. “Good choice, everyone knows Nikon DSLR’s are better right?”

    Blasphemy, Canon 4ever!

Anyways, I know how you feel. For the past 4 months it feels like people have been pulling me in a dozen different directions, helping with this or that, running errands, getting certifications, sending in applications, saying goodbye to friends moving, organizing events, etc.

Heck, I don’t even know how I’m keeping my blog alive and still find some time to watch anime. Actually, I do know, I’ve been putting off figure reviews too.

    • Silly Canon people…

Yes, that’s why I look forward to this upcoming weekend where I will have enough free time to snap some pictures outside.

  4. Prometheus posed more questions than answers to me, and it felt like the usual trapped in (insert location here) with a killer (insert species/device here) plot. The first portion was the only interesting portion that i found D=

Canon vs Nikon lol. I’ve tried both cameras and I think both brands’ camera bodies are ok. Lens-wise not sure how to judge Nikon because I haven’t touched a lot of Nikon lenses.

Hahaha it’s also nice to know what’s going on with fellow bloggers aside fromthe usual figures =P

    • Indeed it did, having the wirter from Lost probabaly attributed to that, but hey, at least this way it leaves the door opened for sequels.

My decision to go Nikon was pretty arbitrary so I can’t really say either. If anything the only thing I can say is that I like the positioning of the controls of Nikon cameras better.

Good to hear, I suppose stuff like this is good every once in a while.

  5. Those joints are so…so…AWWWWWWW. I really can’t stand figures with very visible joints…ç_ç (referring to Mirai)

Looking forward the new posts! :)

    • figmas have joints? Whaaat?

That’s my reaction if you ask me about them today, I completely forget they are there. I had figmas for years, I have dozens of them so I no longer noticed them.

It is though, one of those things that you need to hold a figma in your hands to appreciate and forget about them.

  6. Mirai is very simple for a figma, but the posing opportunity of her with food is… it just just works.

Just got meself a new camera (Canon A3200IS), and already disabled (read: never use) the Auto-settings.

As for movies, I’ll just re-watch Sherlock Holmes 2.

    • I suppose it was because Danny Choo popularized the whole figma+food combo? I do wish though, that GSC hadn’t skimped on the accessories. I mean, not even a full set of hands?

That’s always a nice option when you have it, really should stop relaying on the LX5’s auto setting. That way it would go from decent quality photos to nice less noisy, white balanced photos.

You just reminded me I need to watch that movie. Watched the first and liked it but never got around to watching the second.

  7. It’s good to read posts like this once in a while aside from figure reviews. I can’t easily bring my small figures outside. I’m pretty sensitive with being stared at.

    • Happy to hear that, since I will probably do more in the future.

I used to be like that, but getting used to it and the company of friends do wonders.

  8. Lol how unlucky, just to take a few photos were kept being delayed and delayed haha.

I didnt watch the film im actually not really into blockbuster films anymore mostly because i dont have time for it but also cant be bothered spending to watch ^^

    • In the end, it turned out well enough for me. Really liked my Nanoha pictures.

This year has been unusual been going out to watch movies a lot, but mostly because I want to hang out with my friends.
