Hello everyone. To keep the quota of game posts, living up to the latter half of the blog’s name, and to share a bit of what I’ve been up to lately, I’m going to do a little review of the MMO Tera. I’ve seen a lot of talk about the game and everyone seems to ask ”is Tera any good?” but what I haven’t seen is someone actually talk about playing it or answer that question. I’ve played it and in short, it’s good.

Tera is an MMORPG by the korean developer Blue Hole Studio which was recently formed by former NCsoft employees which were working on the Lineage 3. There was a big shitstorm about Blue Hole stealing trade secrets from NCsoft and such, but that’s outside the scope of this post. Tera is distributed by En Masse Entertainment which is a subsidiary of Blue Hole.

It has been out since last year in Korea but just recently got an official release in North America and Europe. Tera is actually an acronym for The Exiled Realm of Arborea but no one really knows that and they just call it Tera (A.K.A. that one MMO with the prepubescent bunny girls). One more piece of information that is interesting, Tera is made with the Unreal Engine, which is very surprising because the game is not all shades of gray with characters that look like football players.

Gameplay

When you start playing Tera the first thing you’ll do is notice is how different it is from your typical MMO. Ok, that’s a lie, the first thing you will do is drool at how beautiful and sexy your character is (more on that later) and THEN, in a very close second, you’ll notice that when you press your left mouse button your character will rev up and do an attack, no clicking on a monster, you just aim somewhere and you start attacking.

Controls and Combat

That you throw an attack by merely clicking the left mouse button is very significant because this implies that this game is not your typical “click an enemy to auto attack” kind of game. No sir, this game actually FEELS like a video game, no clicking and waiting, no random number generator to calculate if you dodge an attack no dice rolls to decide the fate of your character.

In Tera where you are matters in the context of combat. Monsters often use some attacks that only damage in front of them, and naturally you’ll want to move to the side or behind the monster.  Conversely, when they us area attacks, you’ll want to move away from completely. Getting familiar with the cues that signal these attacks and learning the timing that you need to dodge or block this attack is something that was completely alien to other MMORPGs as far as I know. Because of this, the combat in Tera feels very much like an action game rather than an MMO.

For example, say you’re playing as Slayer, a burst attacking (DPS) class, you’re attacking a monster normally when suddenly you notice it’s starting to rev up to do a very damaging attack. At this point you have several options, you could stand there and take the hit like in your standard MMO, not a very fun way to do it, you can use your very handy dodge skill and leap to the back side of the monster and avoid all damage while gaining some precious seconds of attacking it in the back, or you could simply move out of the way and save your dodge skill for a more pressing occasion. There’s a pretty big variety in monster patterns, however there are a lot of “same monster different pallet” going on. Luckily there’s also a constant mix of new monsters and behaviors mixed with these familiar monsters to keep things interesting.

Quests

Tera has pretty standard quests for an MMO. Go kill 10 pigs, go gather 5 of this useless flowers, escort this dumbshit NPC to the next area, protect this irrelevant NPC for 5 minutes. Nothing too different from normal. It can get pretty repetitive, there’s only so many of random monster A you can kill without it feeling old. However, once in a while you get a weird quest, like salting some meat by clicking an item in your inventory, or using a bomb from your inventory to destroy some crates or discover some monster in costume. Again, nothing way out of the norm but they’re kinda nice to get you out of the kill 10 things and turn it in mindset.

Co-op

There are however some quest that you just have to do with a group. Trying to solo some monsters is just not to your best interest. They’ll either hit really hard,have way too much HP or are just a pain in the ass to do alone. Fortunately Tera has a couple of tools to make the life of us friendless people a bit more manageable.

LFG

There is this Looking For Group (LFG) interface built into the game that posts a little ad on the server with your message saying that you want to kill X thing with that party. You can receive a request for a party though this way or join someone else’s party this way. I thought this was a really nice feature to help people get organized and do something, however NO ONE USES THIS for some reason. It would be nice if the community started using this but alas, a lot of times you end up looking for a party the old-fashioned way of typing in a chat window.

Auction House

In a similar way there’s an auction house where you post something you want to sell and you can see what you can buy. This is really widely used and you can probably sell whatever rare junk you don’t need there.

Instance Matching

Looking for a group is nice and all but if you’re going into a dungeon you really need to get a balanced party with a tank (the damage mitigator), healer, and DPS, for cases like this Tera has Instance Matching. Instance matching will search within all servers of Tera (of your region) for other players doing the same dungeon as you in a balanced way. It’ll get one tank one healer and at lest one DPS, it will automatically teleport you to the dungeon from wherever you are. This is really damn useful for getting a quick party for going through a dungeon, the downside is that there’s currently only 1 tank class in the game, comparatively there’s 4 DPS classes, so if you’re DPS you’re gonna be stuck in a queue a while, You’re a tank? Oh hey, look, you got instantly ready for the dungeon. I believe WoW has something similar but I’m not sure on the details.

BAMs

Short for Big-Ass-Monster, BAMs are probably the funnest part of Tera. Think of them as boss monsters. As you might imagine, this is a special type of monster that is big in the ass department. To clarify a little, BAMs aren’t just bigger versions on normal monsters with more HP, they’re completely new monster with their own models, animations ant attacks patterns. It usually takes a party to take them down and do a whole variety of range and area attacks that can really pose a challenge to your party wherever they’re right in front of it, behind it smacking it or at a distance healing BAMs have widely different scenarios and behaviors like jump up for an area attack, make the spike traps of the room you’re standing on activate, pounce all over the place, summon minions, area attacks that take up most the room. Killing BAMs is somewhat reminiscent of Monster Hunter, all that’s needed for it to be the same is different attack areas and breakable limbs. It would be great if I could cut off the tail of some of these BAMs. It would be great if every single BAM was different, but like any other monster the same types of BAMs tend to appear later but only stronger. On the good side, there’s a mix of new BAM types along the way.

Because of the dynamic gameplay and wide variety of options you have in each situation, Tera really feel different from your standard MMO. Now imagine you’re fighting a BAM with a party of 5 and it uses a very hazardous silence attack that makes it impossible to use your dodging skill and right after this the monster does an attack that can potentially one-shot you and everyone in its range. Do you run away hoping your teammates do the same? Do you gamble stun attacks and hope they take effect to interrupt the boss’ two follow-up attacks? Do you try to go for broke and use your knockdown abilities to try to completely incapacitate the monster altogether and giving you and your party a chance to deal massive damage? Or do you stand there attacking like an idiot letting the attack hit? I had this specific fight a couple days ago, and it was pretty damn fun.

Graphics

Tera is one of the few MMOs that really taxes your system. As a result you’ll find that people just won’t shut up about their computers you’ll find that these big demands on your system result in big rewards on the graphics end. Tera is an obscenely beautiful game from both the technical and art direction perspectives. Perhaps I’m exaggerating with the demands on your system however. A modest video card and a good processor is all you need to run it at max settings and get a beautiful scene, you won’t have to buy a $600 card just to play this game.

Scenery

In a world full of brown and gray FPS with jelly splattered all over the screen, I find it very refreshing when a game goes out of its way to become bright and vibrant without looking like an ice cream truck with christmas lights. Tera has style and very big technology behind that style, the result is very pretty, sometimes awe striking scenery. The tree’s leaves sway in the wind and rays of light peek through the clouds, a rainbow forms above the waterfall in the distance all while beautiful bunny fairies prance through the fields.

Apart from the awesome scenery there’s also a varied amount settings and themes in the game. So far I’ve encountered grasslands, jungles, desert, farmland, spring fields, haunted mansions and more. I always like when an area feels different from others in video games because it helps a lot to break the monotony. This game is beautiful, just look at the screenshots. Ironically, you still get those red edges around your screen whenever you’re dying, just like Call of Duty!

Character models

But you probably don’t care about the random trees, you’re here for the sex appeal, and Tera delivers on that end as well. Tera has 7 different races with very different looks and feels. From innocent and playful to stoic and muscular to sexy and alluring, Tera has you covered. Oh, and don’t think that this only applies to the girl designs, there’s plenty of man-abs uncovered, man-cleavage and other such man-service to make me cringe keep the ladies satisfied.

Tera has a character creation system where you can make some really damn attractive character models. This system is pretty limited however. You have the most control over the head and face of your character, the skin tone, and with some races what type of tail and ears you get. In essence you can edit only the face. But this is enough really. Tera has very attractive preset faces, and it not hard to tweak them and make a beauty of your own by tweaking these to your . Also keep in mind that you can choose the sex of your character for 4 of the races and your appearance also varies by the class of armor you use, so you won’t be bumping into a head swap of your character too often, but don’t be surprised if you do. I’ve run into 2 people who had the same body as my character, my character had a much prettier face however.

There is a huge variety of outfits that your character can get. They go from very the chic that you’ll likely to see a stylish girl in the real world use, to very elegant that a movie star might wear to the Oscars, to outfits so skimpy that they are just a bunch of strings. My favorite so far has been a Castanic in heavy armor using large shiny greaves with some black lace stockings underneath that peaked through all the metal, amazingly sexy.

The Elin

Different races have different aesthetics and appeals. High Elves and Humans enjoy a lot more bouncy-ness around the chest area. There’s also Castanic for those who prefer the more moderate bust line. I’m not trying to depreciate the other races (I actually seem to prefer the High Elves) but when people think of Tera they think of those loli little bunny girls with thick thighs and overly cute mannerism that you’ve seen in all those videos in YouTube, in other words they think of the Elin race.

The Elin race, story wise, were created by the goddess to be some sort of nature guardian fairies or spirits or something, all you need to know is that they’re some magical beings. The Elin are probably the most recognizable race in Tera and for good reason. Every single hair of their being is made to be cute. Their idol animation has them catching random bugs while they bend a leg back in a very girlish fashion, they do a V sign for victory, they jump arms extended and legs flexed with the most happy expression in their face. Elin go out of their way to capture you with their cuteness, and it works. I’ll say that the Elin and their deliciously plump thighs are probably the main reason I was first interested in Tera. However, as hard as it would be to believe, Elin are not universally loved.

There was a sort of controversy because to some people they look like little girls in skimpy clothing. This lead to the censorship in the western release of the game. Elin now have short shorts instead of metal bikinis and there’s no navel exposed in any of the costumes. Apparently any girl without a chest is prepubescent to the entirety of the western world. Even so they’re not even girls, they’re some sort of fairy beings with completely different body types than humans so putting them to the same standards is ridiculous. I won’t rant about this too much because it’s an easily fixed problem, as you can get a mod to revert the changes and have the Elin in all their skimpy glory.

Story

I’ll admit that I don’t care about the story about Tera too much. It’s hard to care about every single one of the people you’re killing 5 random mobs or saving their village. To them it might be the most important day in their lives, but for me it was just Tuesday. Such is the fate of the chosen hero of destiny.

Tera seems to have a lot of back story that makes up it’s magical world. There’s plenty of explanations for how the world came to be the way it is and gives you plenty of reasons to do what you have to do in the quest. There’s plenty to keep you reading and learning of the world for a while if you so chose to; however, I just want to go questing with my friends most of the time so I tend to skip on this part of the game.

Bottom Line

Tera is a great new take on MMORPGs and I would say it is worthwhile if you haven’t played a game like this before or if you’re a veteran of others like it. It takes all the good parts of western MMORPGS with good parts of the Korean MMOs and combines them with fun and dynamic gameplay and you get a game that feels like it’s the next generation of MMORPGs. As fun as it is to play the biggest flaw I see is that it still feels as grindy as any MMO. I don’t see that going away anytime soon as companies need players to keep playing to make money. But it’s not so bad if you take it a day at a time and not try to rush to max level in a week.

Hello everyone,  today we shall take a look at my favorite girl from the marvelous Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 games, Aigis.

As mentioned the lovely Aigis originates from the PS2 and PSP RPG Persona 3. Which is a spin off of the long running Shin Megami Tensei series of RPGs from Atlus.

Aigis is one of the several party members that you recruit throughout the game. She is an anti-Shadow weapon developed by the Kirijo group which are the main backers of the party through the game.

In other words, she is a robot created to beat your resident monsters in Persona 3 created by your party’s benefactors.

I was captivated by Aigis even before I played the game when I saw this illustration which was included in the art book with the special edition of the game.

I really love Aigis’ visual design so much. She has this old school, steam punk style that I find rather cool, even more so now since robot girls seem to be out of vogue.

Speaking of which, this really nice rendition of Aigis is based on an illustration by Shigenori Soejima who is the character designer for the several iterations of the Persona 3 and Persona 4 games.

I actually own the art book that contains this illustration. If you are a fan of Soejima’s works, or a fan of the newer series of Persona games then this book is for you. I specially like the interview included at the end.

When I was playing the game I was so anxious to finally be able to have her in my party, alas she joins about halfway through the game or so.

After she joined Aigis was a main stay in my party even if at times it was disadvantageous for certain areas or bosses.

Luckily enough for me in P3:FES, which was a tweaked re-release of P3 with extra content, contained an epilogue where Aigis was the protagonist.

Boy did I get my fill as this epilogue was a nice long 30 hours worth of unadulterated dungeon crawling fun.

I really, really like Persona 3 so an extra 30 hours worth of dungeon crawling to learn and experience more about the events of the game and the characters seemed welcomed.

Persona 3 was one of those games that came along, where it picked my interest and just blew me away.

Everything from the visual design of the game, the character design, the music, the setting was something new and fresh to me.

The contemporary setting of the then near 2009, the modern Japanese metropolis setting was something that I had not experienced before.

After all until that time, the RPGs that I had played had been set in either fantasy, steam punk, or space operas.

The unique style Soejima has gave the game a unique look I hadn’t seen before and has come to become part of the series since then.

The music by Shoji Meguru is one of the most memorable things I experience in the game, his mixture of jazzy, hip hop and rocking tunes was something completely new for me. His work on Persona 3 and 4 are among the most memorable gaming soundtracks I ever heard.

Perfect example of this would the battle themes for Persona 3 and Persona 4.

I really love Persona 3, if I ever sat down and made a top 10 or even a top 5 list of favorite RPGs this game along with Persona 4 would be up in the top 3.

You wanna know how much I love this game?

I bought it four times, the special edition of the original release, the updated release of P3:FES, the portable rendition of P3P and now the PSN release of P3:FES.

As for the figure itself, the sculpting of the body is really nice.

Random person who came to this blog before, here you go, your “sexy robot ass” that you searched for and some arrived here.

The base is pretty simple and compact, reminiscent of the dungeons of the game. Aigis attaches with a single peg on the side of her left leg, she does not actually rest on the base.

The one thing that I love to bits are all the small details included on the figure such as the opened chamber on Aigis guns showing the single cartridge loaded.

The writing that you can find on her such as her shoulders,  arm bad, head band and so on.

The mechanical bits that you find such as the wiring on her arm or her guns on her wrists.

The tearing on the coverings of her legs and her hips are quite nice.

I love her face quite a bit, her bright blue eyes, her lips, the faint blush on her cheeks, her nice long eye lashes. Aigis is one pretty gal.

About the only thing I did not like was her hair, I would have preferred a matte finish rather than the semi translucent that Alter went for.

This figure has gone on to become one of my favorites in my collection, at 1/6th she is quite an imposing figure, I think Alter really outdid themselves this time

Perhaps I am a bit biased since I love Aigis to bits.

Uesugi Kenshin was one of the most powerful lords of the Sengoku period. Chiefly remembered for his prowess on the battlefield, now Uesugi is a figma based on the game Race Quest, but also appeared in Sengoku Rance.

Uesugi Kenshin was also a Woman.

Kenshin’s abilities were no match for the many assassins sent to end her life from all over JAPAN.

For some reason she wears some stupid looking hat into battle.

No one can hope stand up to the might of the Uesugi!

The jelly donuts onigiri she makes are 3 times larger than normal because she eats a lot.

Go, War Machine time to show how bad ass you are.

Also finally a chance to use the War Machine Revoltech I got like half a year ago.

I sure hope you watched Ironman 2 otherwise War Machine’s dialogue might seem a bit odd for you. It was ordinarily another character who says it though, so think of War Machine just repeating that stuff.

It’s also a change to use my MISAKA-imouto figma. She is one of my favorites, really nice figma. I also would like to use her a lot considering how much money I paid for her on Mandrake. Let’s just say it was more than a figma should ever cost.

I don’t really know, isn’t it how it’s used or something like that?

I also made lots of glowy effects for this so I hope you guys like them.

Finally, a chance to use Kos-Mos as well. I’m sure everyone at some point thought, it would be cool is this one character got turned into a figma, Kos-Mos was that character for me. I was thrilled to bits about it, ever more after  Bandai’s rather sad attempt at a Kos-Mos action figure.

Kos-Mos sure is a pretty figma, then again that might be biased coming from me.

Oh! She was interesting when she first came out since she had a rather unique really nicely sculpted behind.

I really like MISAKA-imouto, she is really nice and fun. That silly grin of her can be used for many exploitable situations in my opinion.

Here you can see War Machine in all his glory.

I must say though, I don’t like this Revoltech that much. The left side is a mess, the leg and arm always fall off, the joints do not go into the body as much as the right side. This causes the left side to be longer than the right making him a bit lopsided.

This little story sure let me use figmas I rarely play with like Miyafuji here.

Unlike last time, this time around it wasn’t such a pain to put the striker units in her legs.

Yes, all that nonsense jargon sounding words are real.

I am a Homura-holic so I really, really want to use her for more pictures in the future.

Oh baby, this time I have treat for you guys. Her name is Sandaime Muramasa and she’s a gorgeous maid with amazing curves from Max Factory. She’s also dressed up as a maid! And she’s a brown elf! But I think you already read the title… This time instead of posting crap no one cares about our favorite characters and figures in a not so timely fashion, we’re on the bleeding edge this week with a seemingly popular figure that was released just over a week ago! From the publishing of this post.

Sandaime Muramasa is somewhat of a first for me. I have this unspoken rule that I won’t get any figures of characters I know nothing about, however she has been the first one I have broken the rule with, and with good reason. The reason is well, she has an unusually high density of moe points that cater to me. Tsundere, thigh highs, long hair, pouting face to name a few. She’s gorgeous as a whole, and I wanted a maid and she happened to come out at the right time. She’s also a brown elf, which hentai has taught me is a hotter version of normal elves. Also if you’re a dark-skinned elf girl bad things happen to you… really bad things… some of them really hot…

As I said I don’t know much about Muramasa, not even sure if that’s her real name but that’s what listed. She’s from a Nitroplus visual novel called Soukou Akki Muramasa, it’s also under FullMetal Daemon Muramasa. It’s about feudal Japan but in the future where there’s mechas or some shit like that. In reality I have no clear idea of what the VN is about, I found almost no information on it and it’s not translated either so I couldn’t just go play it.

I did however look at the CGs from the game on a reputable hentai site and figured out a couple of things about the game and this girl. For one I don’t think she’s a big part of the game because she’s not in many scenes. She’s a bit of a tsundere, she’s not really a maid but lost a bet or something so she’s wearing the outfit, she’s amazingly HNGGworthy, and like many other brown elves she has a cruel fate. That being said I’d like to know more about her.

First thing I noticed on the figure itself, she is 1/7th scale so she’s pretty damn big. She has long, curvy legs, with a bit of meat on them, this is complemented by white stockings that ride up her stopping just shy of her hips. Just perfect.

Apart from having a pretty face she has an interesting expression. Form some angles she looks as she was glaring at you for making her dress in such a ridiculous way…

…and from others she seems very embarrassed from the fact, or spooked or a little sad. I almost didn’t get her because from this angle it seems like she’s suffering inside from some untimely event that dank-skinned elves frequently suffer from. I looked it up and she’s pretty much pouting in this scene in the VN so the face went from sad to HNGGG tsundere.

Sandaime has rather large breasts and while the maid outfit doesn’t do much to emphasise them they’re still very nice. Ah but I was supposed to start talking about the little details with this picture.

She comes with a tea set for, uh, serving tea to her master or mistress. It’s very clean and crisply made, I don’t think I saw a mold line at all.

You’ll notice 2 things about the thigh highs. Firstly they dig in ever so slightly into her thigh which gives them a feeling of being plump. And secondly they are just the right height to create that magical zone Zettai Ryouiki. Both of these make her tremendously sexy.

The maid skirt is ridiculously short, it’s hard not to get a panty shot. But that’s a good thing! It has some intricate creases and patterns.

Her hair is very long and flowing that goes past her waist, and even then it’s tied down. It would probably reach past her knees if she would let it loose. Long hair like this is really attractive in a girl. She’s supposed to have white hair but the figure has an off gray painting to it. Having just white on a figure probably makes it look weird. Oh and since we’re on the subject of color, her stockings, apron, ribbon and anything white has a dark green shading in certain lighting. I was a little worried when I first took her out of the box and saw the shading but it doesn’t look bad and it only happens in certain lighting conditions.

Hair tie detail.

I keep getting amazed when figures have fingernails, it’s always a nice touch.

The table she comes with has a pretty detailed swirly pattern.

Detailed on the bottom too.

The base has this velvet covering that I think is easily damaged. I didn’t actually scratch mine but I remember messing up something with the same texture before.

You’ll notice that this time I have a proper background. This is by far the most elaborate setup I’ve done. I got the idea from Miette when he suggested that curtains would make it look like a mansion type of setting. So I promptly went and bought some cloth. No I can’t sew at all, however I called for a secret weapon, Mom! She was kind enough to help me out with making the curtains for the set.

And as if she needed even more sex appeal, you can cast off the skirt! Cast off procedure is very clean, you split her in half and slide the skirt off.

She has marvelously sculpted round buttocks. It’s obvious that this is where Max Factory focused their efforts when making this figure.

Very detailed and fancy panties. Even a little see-through there. I guess fancy dresses come with fancy panties.

From this angle she looks really dynamic.

And from this angle, well, I like this angle too.

“Jeez! What are you staring at you pervert!”

Without her skirt her legs look even longer and the line flows all the way up to her hips. Very sexy.

Miette wanted a raunchy artistic shot like this. I approve.

That’s it for this lovely maid. Hope it wasn’t too long but there was so much I wanted to show from her and there’s still a bunch more shots I didn’t show on my Flickr.  She has instantly become one of my favorite figures and I would really recommend her. I know the saying goes “little brown girls are the best” but for this not-little-at-all dame I can make an exception.

Because you can’t have Reimu without Marisa we shall take a look at the accompanying figure to the Reimu from last time.

Koto’s take on the ordinary magician, Kirisame Marisa!

For the ones who do not know Marisa is the co-protagonist of the Touhou games together with Reimu being the one character to rival her in number of appearances in the games proper.

Much like all other playable characters Marisa first appeared as a boss and duked it out with Reimu in Story of Eastern Wonderland the second Touhou game back in the PC-98 series of games.

While exilehero went for Marisa’s boss theme from Fairy Wars I’m a bigger fan of the one from the 8th Touhou game Imperishable Night since it sounds more fun and lighthearted.

That’s closer to image of this kleptomaniac protagonist that I have. A fun loving, hard working magician who steals girls’ precious things.

Then again given who the idiot fighting Marisa in Fairy Wars was, the more darker, sinister, last boss sounding Magus Night makes more sense.

Speaking of which, fighting Marisa is quite fun as it involves either a lot of pretty pastel colored stars flying about and flashy giant beams being shot at you. Rather unique come to think of it.

“Atashi no deban da ze!”

Much like Reimu before this figure is also based on the works of the same author, Nemu Matsukura, the illustrator of the Touhou manga Eastern and Little Nature Deity.

That pretty much means these two figures are a set.

Marisa comes with two accessories if you want to call them as such.

The first is her trademark broom, which is quite big actually, that she uses to fly around in the games. It slides in and out of her hands, you do need apply a little bit of force to do so.

An essential part for a magician or so she says.

You can also take of her hat, unlike the Griffon figure who uses nothing but gravity or the figma this one does not have a peg.

It uses the power of magnetism to stay securely attached to her head.

Without her hat I think Marisa has an identity crisis, makes me go who is this person?!

exilehero also said that without it she looks more like a maid than a magician, something that I have to agree with.

The details are not too bad, plus upon closer inspection I could not find anything bad with the figure in terms of painting, sculpting and so forth.

Speaking of close inspections, unlike Reimu, Marisa is wearing bloomers like any good Touhou girl should.

Quite skimpy bloomers…

Which reminds me, Marisa has nice slim legs, very pretty.

Such a shame her skirt obscures most of them unless you look at the right angle.

One thing that I liked quite a bit was Marisa’s expression.

Big expressive eyes, her mouth and slight wink given a different angle convey different moods to me.

From the right it feels like her usual confident self, from front  a more neutral look and from left more inquisitive or doubtful.

Hmm… I wonder if I am the only one that feels that way.

As you can probably tell from the larger than usual amount of pictures I really, really liked this figure. It’s just so Marisa like to me, so expressive and dynamic.

Reimu might be my favorite girl but Marisa got the better figure from Kotobukiya.

Much like Reimu if you are a fan of Marisa or Touhou this figure is for you. Even you already own Griffon’s or Koto’s previous rendition I think this one is worth buying.

Hmm… being doing a lot of Touhou lately in the blog, with exilehero’s Griffon Marisa, my Koto Reimu and now Koto Marisa. Well, I hope you like it because we are totally doing more Touhou figure reviews in the upcoming months.

I while back Fabrice Requin had a contest where two Miku figures were up for grabs, and I was lucky enough to win ! So thanks to Fabrice I own a Miku Append Figma woo.

With these photos I experimented a lot with all type of abstract backgrounds and lighting. I put a bunch of old boxes, some paper, I illuminated the background though and xbox case to make it green, but alas I didn’t like any of that. I ended up using the back of one of my storage boxes since it looks kinda futuristic, but even then I’m not completely satisfied. I’ll think more about what to do about backgrounds.

As for the title, I head some people complain about append Miku going barefooted (Miette included) so I decided to take it to the logical extreme and take some foot fetish pics! Ah, now you’re gonna think I’m some weirdo… I appreciate most parts of the female body, this includes feet and legs, however I do not have a fixation on those parts. I didn’t take that many of that type anyway… /disclaimer

Anyway I’ll let Miku take it from here.

Man, Append Miku is kinda harsh. Don’t let her bother you too much! She might have a harsh expression but I think she’s just playing around… probably. Oh and I forgot to complain about the base. God, she should have just had a hole to put in the base peg, so troublesome!

It’s been ages since I taken out a figma out and about with me, good thing I got a chance to amend that.

It was exilehero’s birthday this past week, everyone, say belated happy birthday!

As such our co-workers arranged to take exilehero to a restaurant of his choosing, a nice Japanese place.

Like any proper American Japanese restaurant they serve you some nice green tea and miso soup. Speaking of which, can’t for the life of me come to like miso soup no matter how many times I try it. What about you guys, do you like it?

As luck would have it, exilehero got the largest pieces of sushi I ever seen.

I found it amusing though, while he is used to me doing the picture taking our other companions expressed their amusement in their end at my antics.

Their reaction to me swapping faces on Asuza was priceless.

“Oh my god! You ripped her face off!”

Funny, how they also questioned if was actually gonna eat or just take pictures… =_=’

One of our co-workers took this nice birthday cake, it’s actually made of cupcakes with a layer of frosting on  top. Pretty convenient, makes it easier to eat, no need for utensils or plates.

Apparently Azunyan couldn’t wait and took a dive for the cake… come to think of it my camera ended with some frosting on it.

Like my co-worker put it, I guess it makes the picture sweeter?

Afterwards, I was a bit bored while waiting to leave to work so I snapped a few pictures.

I almost forgot to mention it, but this is part of a vaguely related series of posts featuring the K-On! girls.

We got Yui, and Yui again, some Mugi,  Mio with only Ritsu to go now.

It was fun doing this kind of picture taking again, even more so since I haven’t done it in a while.

I don’t see people taking out their figmas and what not out and about to take pictures lately. I’m not looking in the right place or is it out of vogue now?

Toys: The miracle buds that swell from the hearts of the chosen. Some flowers are born pure, while others bloom laced with poison. The age of detectives. These two flowers wage a war to see which is the most beautiful: the great detectives or the gentleman thieves. Tantei Opera Milky Holmes!

Arsene is from Milky Holmes as I’ve already said. She is the a Gentleman Thief and is the main antagonist to the idiot detective quartet that is Milky Holmes. She is probably the only competent person in the show and tends to get angry at everyone else for being such fools. She has a dominatix feel about her, you can tell by her outfit. “Kiss the ground beneath my feet like the worm you are”. She is definetly a bloom laced with poison.

When I saw that they were making an Arsene figure I just had to get her. The promo pictures looked great and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to push Milky Holmes on to people . This is the first Good Smile Company scaled figure I’ve gotten and I’m quite pleased.

Here you can see her pretty face and hair. For some reason she wears a ridiculously small crown that I had not noticed before getting the figure. It’s a hairband with the tiny crown attached, very practical! Her hair is also very nice, notice the abundance of curls and drill. I like hair drills, they give an air of refinement, or nobility even.

Arsene has two great assets and she’s not afraid to put them to good use. Even in the anime they make a lot of boing boing jokes. She is pushing them up slightly with her elbow glove toting arm. This is one of her best points!

Another delicious point is her navel. It has that vertical line along the abdomen thing that I find very sexy. Her sexy abs are complimented with the crisscrossing laces that continue with the dominatrix theme.

I don’t know what the buckles are for, but this outfit is pretty outrageous. I was kinda disapointed with the left hand though. In some promo pics it shows her clearly digging into her stocking and that was one of the best and sexiest details, but on my Arsene the fingers kinda stick out.

Nevertheless Arsene still oozes with sexy appeal.

Thigh highs are the best!

Simple, sturdy base.

And of course, you can take the mask off to reveal her beautiful purple eyes. Though this doesn’t really happen in the anime. The type mask has this specific name but it escapes me. To take it off it works much like a Figma, you take off her fringe, I almost expected the face to be swapable, but alas.

She comes with a second mask without pegs for her to wield.

Arsene is pretty much made of sexy appeal. There’s so much going on with her, yet she still remains classy, you know, being a Gentleman Thief and all. Milky Holmes is great and you should watch it. I know people just can’t take it seriously but it’s not meant to be!
