So a new season of Ore no Imouto Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai is in full swing and I think I’m starting to hate it haha. I usually don’t dislike many anime and can at least find something to like in most works but Kirino is really annoying me in this one haha, and It’s not like I liked the first season that much more or anything. Why the hell do I even watch this? Oh yeah Ruri Gokou.

Through the years I have taken many pictures of Ruri Gokou, and based on the amount I guess I could be a bit of a fan of her. “Who the hell is Ruri Gokou?” you say, she’s Kuroneko, or uh Shironeko in this case, though you’d never hear her real name from anyone 2D or 3D.

This time I got a SEGA prize figure of her and she is one of the many I came to acquire by actually playing the god-forsaken machines.

I didn’t really notice until  I was editing the pictures but this rendition of Kuroneko is ridiculously cute. There’s also the fact that I just finished catching up on the latest episode where she comes out in this exact outfit so I might be the tiniest bit biased.

Nah, she really is ridiculously cute.

As it is to be expected from prize figures she’s pretty rough around the edges, sometimes literally. You can see that the little tie in her summer dress is a kinda mashed together.

Even if her production quality isn’t top notch, she still seems to have an awesome sculpt and expression. I knew there was a reason I would throw money at the machine to get her! Besides blatant fanboyism.

Apart from the rather nasty seam line between her body and her dress, you can see in this picture the slight curve of her chest that fits perfectly with her petite frame. Ah, there are all sorts of wonderful breasts people in this world.

By far my favorite part of this figure is her face. At first I didn’t really think she looked that much like Kuroneko, she looked a bit too wide-faced to me, however I’ve since then revised my opinion. Her cheeks have a slight puffiness that houses the ever so cute blush that she and all other Oreimo girls seem to have. Her eyes fall somewhere between sharp and sweet, much like her personality in the show and beside them is her iconic mole. Ack, I’m falling in love.

You really can’t see her back with all that hair getting in the way, nor is it anything very elaborate but I very much like it nonetheless.

In the anime she wears the very hat! I was a bit disappointed to learn that her hat is pretty much glued to her hand and you can’t put it on her. You can also see the little frills on her dress which are pretty well done.

This would be a more fetishistic shot if her toes weren’t melded together so obviously.

Base is simple and to the point, nothing wrong here. A literal rough around the edge in plain view.

Close up of the frills. This rendition of her gives her a generous, slightly plump and delicious thighs. I have no idea how she would be in the anime since I don’t remember getting this type of fan service from her. You can also see her fingers are pretty well done.

I get the feeling that Oreimo is going for a full-blown siscon ending,  you can really get that vibe considering many of the lines between Kirino and Kyosuke can be taken with double meaning. Though I guess that is part of the appeal of this series, it keeps the tension up at the expense of the viewer’s sanity. All this is what I gather from the anime alone as I have not read the LN or manga. Well here’s hoping there’s less Kirino and more Kuroneko, man this is gonna be one annoying season ahahaha.

It’s been a little while since last time, looking at my last photo shoot that would be just a week under two months.

Why the long gap? Well, the primary reason is simple, I was waiting for this awesome, cute, lovely figure. Good Smile Company and Ascii Media Work’s Tenshi from Angel Beats!

We all know who the lovely Tachibana Kanade, as she is sometimes known, is right? Lovely mysterious possibly angelic, at least at first anyways, girl whose actions drove the plot of Angel Beats for a while.

She sure was nice, favorite girl of the show for me and fairly popular that Good Smile Company would go on to make this figure even after so many years since the show ended.

This is actually the first scaled figure I have received this year all thanks to the factory sharing debacle with GSC and Alter.  I wonder when will I get those two Alter figures I have on order, the vague “after May” release is kinda worrisome. Then you had the figmas from Max Factory getting delays not one but two or three months some getting delayed more than once. This year getting stuff on time or at least with the usual one month delays seems to be just not happening at all. At least from GSC and their umbrella and Alter.

Which is why I’m actually quite surprised this Tenshi was released on time, I suppose being an exclusive helped. This figure was sold exclusively through GSC’s web shop and Dengikiya, luckily enough ordering through the GSC shop made it easier and cheaper for people to get a hold of this figure. Even more so if you went for group orders and all that jazz.

Except that… I… was not one of those people, since GSC didn’t exactly announce they were gonna sell Tenshi through their shop I got it through a proxy. I ended paying quite a bit more thanks to the mark up, more expensive shipping costs and paying up front when the Yen was much stronger. Even if I wanted to just cancel and order through the GSC shop my choice of proxy had a 15% cancellation fee which would negate any savings.

So, GSC announce right away when you are selling things through your shop ok?

Some of you might remember but this is actually GSC’s second Tenshi, the first came out a few years back. That original Tenshi caught my interest since it was one of the figures GSC used 3D modeling in an effort to save on productions cost for the figure. True enough that did reflect in a slightly lower than usual price for the figure. This figure on the other hand did go for a straight 8000 yen coupled with GSC’s flat shipping that was at least 10K a pop. If you were like me who got it through a proxy even more.

To be honest I think this is a very beautiful figure but also a bit over priced.

One of the reasons I really liked this figure has to be it’s most noticeable element. Some figures sure are visually commanding to me, Tenshi is one such figure. Her wings just draw your eyes to them, when I was taking these pictures I couldn’t help but to keep glancing at them.

Good Smile, being Good Smile did their usual craftwork and the wings certainly look the part. The variation on the feathers, the gradient in the coloring all make for a great looking effect. Compared to GSC’s original Tenshi’s these wings are way sturdier, those felt like cheap plastic in my opinion these feel like nice soft PVC.

There were also the well known issues with the pegs that resulted in a very flimsy hold that would make with the slightest of touches. These wings are easily and securely attached to Tenshi’s upper back, so securely in fact that when I was putting away the figure I was afraid I would end up snapping the peg.

As for the rest of the figure, it looks the part. Tenshi carries a nice serene expression befitting of her imagery and personality, her modest smile and slight blush just make for absolutely lovely package. Add to that her hand as if flicking her hair adds a nice casual air to the whole image for me.

The hair looks appropriately good with several individual strands, the shading with the sculpting adding some nice volume to it.

Her dress has some nice details, rather than being some plain boring featureless piece of white cloth the blue ribbons and buttons accentuate the overall color scheme. The creases of the clothing and the shading add nice depth and features to it. When I looked at the figure in person, the dress felt like it was appropriately flimsy for this type of imagery.

Interestingly enough, the dress is not sculpted into the figure but is instead a separate piece with Tenshi’s body sculpted normally underneath. I should mention you can also remove the head from body. You might be thinking, the dress is can be cast off. The answer to that is both yes and no, you can if you make some permanent alterations to it along one of the seams, but you might not be able to get the dress on properly again.

You can do it, but it seems it wasn’t really intended to making wonder why GSC went and did this separate two pieces in the first place.

Moving down along the figure, Tenshi has some nice slim and girlish legs and her bare feet are so cute. If you are the kinda person who is into all of that stuff this should tickle your fancy even if she is no Erio or Menma.

Quite simply from head to toe this is one very beautiful figure, she will be a mainstay in my collection. Tenshi will be one of those figures that I probably wont ever sell. There truly is nothing for me to complain about besides the price even then as an exclusive figure that comes with the territory I suppose.

Except, for one thing, one part of the figure that I have omitted, do you know what that is?

Sigh… why GSC? Why would you do something like that?!

Good Smile Company is the figure manufacturer that has brought us things like Bakemonogatari’s Shinobu with a nice elaborate base reflecting the illustration she was based on. Unique, full of detail, makes the figure stand out so much more. GSC didn’t have to make it, they could have done something simpler and easier but they went the extra mile.

Which is why this base bothers me so much, I know GSC can do much better, even if it’s not as elaborate as with Shinobu. This base is supposed to be what I believe a sandy beach upon which Tenshi is walking. Honestly this doesn’t look any better than the Beach Queen’s iconic bases. Not to look down on Beach Queen’s but those are 3,000 yen figures, so expectations are of course lower.

Yet GSC gave us just that base for a figure that cost twice as much and was an exclusive to boot, quite simply I expected better and not some cheesecake!

Besides that silly base, which sadly I can’t display the figure without, this is one of my most well liked figures in my collection since she has arrived.

As a fan of the character it is perfect in both looks and personality. It is a great complement to my original Tenshi figure and I’m glad I own both.

If you took a look at this post you might be wondering “what could possibly have Kirino so angry even while on vacation?” It is a known fact that that girl is not a calm being, believe me I know very well, but there exists a specific and tangible reason for this. What’s that? No, the powers bestowed upon me by the Dark Vortex have nothing to do with it, nor have I cast a curse on her miserable existence. It’s simply that in all my magnificence…

I got to go to Japan and she didn’t! Ohohohoho~

I just came back from a nice little family vacation and I’m feeling quite refreshed. Me being a nice good figure owning person, who happens to like taking photos of said figures, took one along for the ride and took pictures of it.

We went to the beach, and you know what was crossing through my head at the time? Regret. Once we got there I really wish I had brought the lovely Gift 1/4th loli Nanoha, what better place to take pictures of a swimsuit figure than the beach right?

Sigh… oh well, may be next time… because I sure don’t go to the beach to go play in the sea with family or friends I go to take pictures of giant loli figures. Sometimes I question myself a little.

It was a nice change of pace for me, was feeling pretty darn blue for a lot of reasons. Which bugs me since not feeling happy sure makes it hard for me to pump out the figure pictures.

Now though, I’m feeling much better and was actually looking to come back home because…

… I received this very pretty scaled figure than I been looking forward to for months. Plus I got a nice idea for the setup I wanna use, which is keeping with my new self imposed decree to only do scaled shoots when I get a nice idea for the figure.

Thinking about it, part of my excitement is that this will be the first scaled figure I gotten this year, the rest has been figmas. Thanks to Alter and GSC’s silly factory sharing business everything got super majorly delayed. Since I apparently only have Alter figures on order besides the one I mentioned for the first quarter I have gotten nothing up until now.

In fact for Maid Laura and Jubei there isn’t a release date anymore, MFC lists just 2013 and AmiAmi still has the vague Spring 2013. I suppose it worked out for me, not need to cancel them since the delays will allow me to work on improving my financial situation.

So, the more delays the better for me. Yay!

I wasn’t actually gonna use the pictures I took while on my vacation for anything but they got positive feedback on Flickr. Way more attention than usual, I got like comments and favorites and stuff! That rarely happens!

So I figured, why not, should go post something on the blog anyways since it has been a while.

Looking back on these photos I’m very jealous, I so do not have nice bodies of water and pretty green nature stuff all over the place back home.

Hey Everyone today I bring you a figure that I have unexpectedly come into owning: Asuka Langley, and since I assume she is from the new movies she would be Asuka Shikinami Langely. She actually holds a bit of sentimental value because…

I actually won her myself in a crane game! Ok the term “won” is making me a bit guilty here. I did indeed play a crane game till I got her. However the attendant helped me a bit after he saw me struggling with to get her.

Crane games however are way more rigged than they appear. They tantalize you with boxes seemingly half in the air and colorful bars adorning the case. You are sucked in and play it the game like an idiot and before long you realize it’s tricks.

The boxes are carefully position so that they get stuck at the slightest touch, the seemingly shortest path to make the figure fall is actually the worst possible way to get it. The innocuous bars that adorn the case are covered in rubber, and any attempt to slide the figure off will prove futile.

However you are already too deep in, the game has suckered you out of few thousand yen, might as well blow another thousand and get the damn figure a millimeter away from falling. Thankfully though, I think the staff is trained to help you if they see you struggling with a figure for too long. Both me and a friend who also played a crane game for a figure were helped by kind attendants to finish getting the figures. Maybe we just got kind attendants, who knows.

Crane laments aside. Asuka is not a bad looking figure. She has the usual roughness of a prize figure and in truth I’ve seen better Asuka figures out there but she’ s a keeper.

I’ve always wanted an Asuka figure however I never really found any that really satisfy me. I’m very critical of the things I’m fond of, and the things I don’t like as much I don’t really want to get. On the good side this attitude is good for my wallet.

An interesting thing that was pointed out to me is that’s she is wearing her school uniform and not her plug suit. Guess its hard to compete with a vacuum packed leave-nothing-to-the-imagination suit but fully clothed girls have their charms too!

She still has a couple nice details for a prize figure. I especially like her hair ornament brain wave thingers. The have that plug suit shine and are pretty well accentuated.

I didn’t like her face at first, specifically the mouth seemed a little too roughly made. Looking at these pictures I might have to change my opinion. Her blue eyes are a striking contrast to her signature red hair. I’m even starting to like the mouth a bit.

There is one weird thing about her sculpt though. Her feet have this concave form to them, it almost feels as if they were deformed or if she’s wearing clown shoes. I tell myself that that’s just because she’s made from old style designs to make myself feel better.

Well I just had to take one of these didn’t I? It’s actually quite impossible to take a panty shot from the front, the base gets in the way before you can see anything. Maybe if you had a smaller camera to snake your way between the base.

When I won her they have me this bag with this really neat illustration of all 3 Eva pilot girls, I might have wanted the bag more than the figure hah. Unfortunately in my eagerness after winning I forced it in too roughly and ended up tearing up right through Mari’s face and her glasses, the box I mean.
